Andreia Inamorato dos Santos

Andreia is a Research Fellow at the European Commission's Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) based in Seville, Spain.  Currently, her research focuses on the accreditation of informal and non-formal learning, Open Education Resources (OER) and strategies for higher education institutions to become open education institutions (OpenEdu).

Andreia has a PhD from the Open University of the United Kingdom. Her thesis, in the field of Educational Technology, focussed on the discourses of teaching and learning online. She also holds a Masters in Research Methods for Educational Technology from the same institution. Previously, in Brazil, she obtained a Masters in Languages from the University of São Paulo (USP), and a Bachelors in Languages and Literature.

As a consultant at DigiLearn (2011-2013) in Brazil, she advised a number of OER initiatives and universities nationally and internationally, and gave public talks on open education and OER to a diversified audience which included global enterprises and governments. In the United Kingdom, she worked as a Research Fellow on OER at the Open University (2006-2011) for the OpenLearn and OLnet projects.

Andreia has published research papers and book chapters in open education and OER, one of which was a national report on OER in Brazil published by UNESCO IITE (2011), later translated and re-published by CETIC-BR and UNESCO (2013).  At present, she is the honorary national OER coordinator of the Brazilian Association of Distance Education (ABED) and an advisory board member of the eMundus project.
