MCI validation workshop of the IPTS Study:
"Statistical, ecosystems and competitiveness analysis of the Media and Content industries"

Seville, 27-28 October 2011

The JRC-IPTS initiated a research programme on the media and content industries. To investigate the current status and dynamics affecting specific MCI sub-sectors setup, a study was commissioned. So as to contribute significantly to the understanding and debate about the economic health and development conditions that would support the future competitiveness of the European MCIs within the digital economy, the study provides:

  1. A quantitative approach to the Media and Content Industries, which includes a statistical analysis of the MCI sector.
  2. An industrial and economic analysis of the Media and Content Industries, that includes a series of sub-sector / Industry case studies: broadcasting, news, music film and book publishing. Three reports were drafted by TNO/SMIT and two by the International Digital Economy Analysis (IDEA) team at IPTS.

This validation workshop was meant to review this set of reports and raise comments about them.
