The Conference
The Information Society Unit of the Institute for Prospective Technological studies (JRC-IPTS, European Commission) organised a 2 days Conference in Brussels, about: "ASIAN RISE IN ICT R&D – Looking for evidence: Debating collaboration strategies, threats and opportunities". The Conference gathered some 60 selected international experts and Commission's staff.
The following questions, supported by experts' presentations, were presented and discussed:
- How is the ICT industry, and its R&D activities developing in selected Asian countries?
- What are prospects for the future?
- Regional ICT production and trade: what are the main ICT-related relationships between the countries? Is there a regional dynamic?
- What are the existing or potential ICT R&D strategies for EU and US ICT companies? What are the strategies of Asian companies?
- What are the existing or potential policies at national or European level that might offer support to ICT companies?
