The main objective of the PREDICT project is to provide an analysis of private and public R&D investments in the EU Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
This project has become a unique source of information on ICT R&D investments in the EU, also a comparative analysis between the EU and its main global competitors. It combines three complementary perspectives: national statistics, company data, and technology-based indicators relying on the latest available official statistics delivered by Member States, Eurostat and the OECD.
PREDICT has become important database for Digital Agenda for Europe-Scoreboard 2014 especially related to indicators on EU ICT Sector and its R&D performance.
Time coverage: 2006-2012
Data is available for the following variables (in nominal euros or PPS):
The PREDICT 2015 dataset is based on the latest available data from official sources such as the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) covering the period 2006-2012. The data is prepared using the NACE Rev 2 definition of the ICT sector (OECD, 2007) which is based on the International Standard Industry Classification (ISIC 4). Depending on the specific section of the report, a comprehensive or an operational definition is applied in order to compare the EU Member States with each other, and to compare the EU with other economies. Moreover, the missing data have been filled in by applying statistical methods explained in the methodological notes. Therefore, the figures presented in the PREDICT 2014 database may not be directly comparable with those of corresponding indicators published by Eurostat.
