The highest ICT sector BERD share of total BERD corresponds to Finland, which share was 11 percentage points higher than the next country, Ireland. In 2011, half of the twenty-eight countries had a higher ICT sector BERD share of total BERD than in 2010. The biggest jump took place in Lithuania.

In 2011, the largest contributors to EU ICT sector BERD were Germany and France. These two countries alone constituted for 39.38% of total EU ICT sector BERD.  They were followed, albeit at a certain distance, by the UK and Finland. The newer MS had a smaller contribution to EU aggregate when compared with ICT sector VA and employment.

ICT sector BERD intensity in the EU in 2011 amounted to 5.50%. Finland had by far the highest ICT sector BERD intensity. Sweden and Denmark also had relatively high ICT sector BERD intensities, but only a third than that of Finland. Some of the new MS – Bulgaria, Slovakia and Latvia– had the lowest levels.
